Before boiler work

Power Flush Before a New Boiler

Fitting a new boiler onto a sludged system sends decades of debris straight through brand-new components. A power flush before a new boiler gives the installation a cleaner starting point, and a written note of the clean gives your installer something for the paperwork.

In short

Many installers ask for the system to be cleaned before or alongside a boiler swap, and many manufacturers expect the system water to meet a standard. A power flush before a new boiler clears the old sludge so the new boiler starts on a clean system. All power flushing work is carried out by a fully qualified Gas Safe registered engineer, and we provide a completion record where appropriate for your installer and file.

Why it matters

Why clean the system before boiler work?

  • New components, old sludgeHeat exchangers and pumps in modern boilers have narrow waterways that old system debris can clog quickly.
  • Installer requirementsMany installers ask for evidence the system was cleaned as part of good practice on the job.
  • Manufacturer expectationsManufacturers commonly expect system water to be cleaned and treated. Your installer can confirm exactly what your boiler’s paperwork requires.
  • A clean baselineStarting clean makes it easier to spot any future problem early, because the water and filter should stay clear.
How it works

How we fit around your boiler installation

We clean systems; your installer fits the boiler. The two jobs work best when they are coordinated, and we are happy to liaise with your installer directly where that helps.

  • Before the swapThe most common approach: the old system is flushed, then the installer fits the new boiler onto clean water.
  • Timed with the installationWhere the installer prefers, the clean can be scheduled around their work on the same project.
  • Noted for the paperworkWater condition, filter work and inhibitor are noted, with a completion record where appropriate for the installer and your file.

An honest note on warranties

A power flush and a completion record may support your boiler paperwork, but they do not themselves validate a boiler warranty. Warranty requirements are set by the manufacturer and handled through your installer, so always confirm the exact requirements with them. We provide the clean and the record; we do not fit boilers and we do not make warranty promises.

Questions

Common questions

Does every boiler swap need a power flush first?

Not always. A newer, clean system may only need a lighter clean or treatment. We check the water and filter first and tell you honestly what the system needs, and your installer may also have a view.

Is the work carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer?

Yes. All power flushing work is carried out by a fully qualified Gas Safe registered engineer.

Will the record satisfy my boiler warranty?

It may support the paperwork, but it does not itself validate a warranty. Requirements depend on the manufacturer and your installer, so confirm with them what is needed.

Can you liaise with my installer?

Yes, where that helps. We are happy to coordinate timing and share the completion notes so the two jobs fit together cleanly.
